Day 2: Nicknames.
Well, I can say with confidence that Riss and Rissa are a couple nicknames that I have heard and gone by over the years, but I think I will take this to a more personal level and back to when I was a child learning to crawl. My Mom always loves to tell me the oddball things I did as a little one, and of course, I think we all love to hear these little stories that make us unique to our parents and the feelings of love that these little stories evoke.
As a baby, when I was learning to crawl, I would not get on my knees (and never did) to properly complete the crawling stage of mobility. Instead, I happily used my upper body strength and DRAGGED my little legs behind me, LOL, which prompted my Mom/family to give me “Cricket” as a suitable nickname. I know they called me Cricket for a while and I always thought it would be cute had they continued with it… not taking into account of course, that I may have hated it when in junior high. BUT I would have taken Cricket over pizza face any day, as I was affectionately referred to from time to time by the ruthless, now teeth-less kids during those years. Tsk, Tsk mean little boys. I bet a day came when you looked at me and regretted such mean words. 😉 Too bad-so sad for you. I may not have been the “prettiest” during my impressionable preteen/teen years, but I can say with confidence that I definitely grew “into myself” and out of the “plain jane, pimply faced girl”. 🙂 Yay me!
**Now back to your regularly scheduled programing… poetry… if some words make it to me this morning. ♥
