Day 5: What song inspires you.
Now this is a hard topic! Music can transport you to a different time… to an old feeling… in can evoke so much. It truly feeds your emotions, for the good and bad. To pinpoint ONE song that inspires me is nearly impossible. Different songs define different time periods in my life. What inspired me when I was 12 certainly is not inspirational to me now. I had to put much thought into this simple topic and came up with a solution.
I chose a song that allows me to “be”. It doesn’t exactly motivate me to do anything although it has helped me to write poetry when I felt I needed a little “oomph”. When I turn this song on, it just halts me. I become very still and I listen to the notes, paying very close attention. I will also sometimes imagine what was in the musicians mind when he wrote this song because I can only begin to imagine perhaps the inner turmoil, chaos, and then resolution.
I choose Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata.
Here is a video from youtube that gives beautiful visual affects with the music. It is just a portion on of the song… otherwise it is 15 minutes long or so. I hope you enjoy it as I have over the years. Click play and just “BE”.
Alright, I couldn’t help myself. I LOVE the full version… so for those of you that would like to listen to all three movements, here is the video. Grab a quiet place, close your eyes, and get in tune with each note. Take a moment to practice nothingness, it is great meditatation.:
