Day 27: Photo of your city
Since I absolutely hate AZ, and haven’t been here long, and don’t plan to be. I will put up a picture of my hometown that I love.
I am from Las Vegas, NV. It is an amazing city full of anything you could want… except prostitution. I don’t know why people think it is legal there, but it is NOT. Not in the Clark county area which includes Las Vegas and all of its sub-divisions.
Many people believe it is not a place to raise a family and while I do somewhat agree, if you stay away from the downtown area and focus on the surrounding “nature”, it can be an amazing place to grow up. I grew up there and love it still. My family was not one to become engulfed in the “Vegas” lifestyle.
Apart from the gambling…
1. Las Vegas has Red Rock Canyon, a WONDERFUL place to visit and do rock climbing.
2. Las Vegas also has Lake Mead which is one of the largest man-made lakes in the United States. Granted, it has lost a-lot of water due to the drought but it is still a wonderful, huge lake.
3. Las Vegas has the Valley of Fire, known for its red sand and rock. Also a great family picnic area with wonderful opportunities for rock climbing.
4. Mt. Charleston/ Lee Canyon- great for picnics and hiking. Also the place to go for local skiing and snowboarding in the winter.
If you want to get out of town, it took me 5 hours (traffic permitting) to get to Disneyland, CA and to the ocean coast near Anaheim, CA. It also took me that amount of time to get to Brianhead, UT for some serious snowboarding/ winter fun.
Anyone who says “there is nothing to do” when in Vegas, has never stepped foot out of their house. 🙂 Just sayin.
