“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our Attitudes.” Charles R. Swindoll quotes
Doesn’t this quote speak volumes?? Lately I have been silent. I am sure there are several factors playing into things. For one, Brandon’s anniversary just passed and though it is not terribly difficult on me, I am sure it plays a little role.
Another factor is that I made a big decision that is life altering to some degree. I decided to end the relationship I was in and to move back to my home state. Though I know that it is the best decision, I can’t help but to have a little fear about how things will unfold.
I came across the quote this morning and put much thought into it. Despite these things I am experiencing… my attitude contributes so much.
Yes, change… even wanted change… can be difficult. But my attitude towards the changes make a huge difference in the way that I feel.
I do not want to be scared. Instead, I want to look forward to the journey that lies ahead. I want the mysteries of the unknown to unfold before me and reveal themselves… not while I feel fear, but rather, excitement.
This is my life. I want to call the shots.
